Kept getting long pauses about once per minute, followed by display driver not reponding messages. Only two things would stop this problem - disabling driver or putting some load on the gpu for example running Microsoft flight simulator. The tech support from xfx was terrible, had me install every beta catalyst driver they could find, then just stopped reponding in the middle of the issue fo over a week, I sent the card back to amazon and replaced it with a gigabyte hd7970 with the same 1000mhz clock speed. The gigabyte card worked perfect with the same computer and same drivers, so the xfx card was obviously defective. I will never buy from xfx again, I can understand the occasional defective card, but the unhelpful and nonresponsive techsupport was unexcusable. There hasn't been a single video game I play that I havnlt been able to run a maximum settings and play at a full 1080p resolution. I will have to get an eyefinity setup at some point to see what this thing can really do. Card is built extremly well, rock solid. The stock fan works great, runs quiet and the card runs very cool. So far I am extremly happy with this unit, I shouldn't need to upgrade graphics for a few years with this puppy in my computer. Their non-black edition 7970 cards to appear to only have a 2 year warranty now, but I've owned several XFX units over the years and have never had one fail on me, so not too worried about it. This review is from: XFX HD 7970 Core Edition 3GB DDR5 925M 2xmDP HDMI DVI PCI-E Graphics Cards FX797ATNFC (Personal Computers) I'm able to run Skyrim with the new super hi-res textures at 2550x1440 with no issues on a sandy bridge i2600k based system. Card was plug and play installation albeit a bit longer in length than my previous XFX 4790 card. bI was able to fit into my antec 1200 case with no problems. Card isn't loud, and it goes into lower power mode when idling. I measure internet browsing with a killawatt tester at around 200 watts with a power strip that has my cable modem, dell 2711 monitor and the PC plugged into it. It goes up to around 400 watts total when playing skyrim and this is including the monitor plus a few other small devices on the power strip. Overall the price was pretty expensive, but thats the cost of being on the bleeding edge I guess. I currently have it mounted on an Asus Sabertooth X79 motherboard inside an NZXT Switch 810 case. The temperatures on it while gaming are perfect and the burn-in test in FurMark ran without a problem, maxing at about 80C after around 20 minutes of 100% utilization. I did have some issues with a game where the display would randomly crash, though I couldn't find anything about it in the Event Viewer. I'm chalking it up to the design of the game, Metro 2033, as I haven't had issues with any others. The initial card that was sent to me had the screws on the fan mountings all screwed up, so one of them was barely hanging on. Watch out for that. Returning it and receiving another one was suprisingly quick and easy, taking about 5 business days total.
